I beg to forward to zoo face the memorandum Iread August 8th to the Commitee of the Church Missionary Society.
I desire to leave the memorandum to speale for itself - only requesting
patient perusal of the document.

I have only to add that - if four grace and HM's Secretory of State for Foreign Affairs and for the Colonies regard the demands of the Church Misioning Society to be founded on reason &justice, Hez in this case to waive my official right of veto and a signify my. Sabor foia (as in the Enclosed memorandum) to the judgment of superior Authorit. And therefore, though my objections to the scheme now proposed remain unchanged, I am prepared I do my part before my departure for China & give it full effect, desiring that the final arbitrament of the cave and its responsibility should next with your face and Ath. Government and not with the Pristip of Victoria.
I beg a decisive and final reply as it regard any alteration of The episcopal jurisdiction of the Lee of Vetoria as at prevent defined in AM's letters patent before my approaching departure for China.
